How does the Bernard solar stove work?

The stove takes the form of a table, with a hole in the top to accommodate the cooking pot. Between the front legs of this table is a reflector, made up of 9 mirrors attached to a frame to focus the sun’s rays on the bottom of the pot. The frame rotates around a horizontal axis to adjust its inclination to the sun. Under the tabletop, a glass insulating box acts as a greenhouse, keeping the lower part of the pot warm. After use, the reflector folds away to save space.
